WRITING: A LIFE CHANGING DECISION

When a decision is life changing, actions require carefulness, thoughtfulness and a great vision that takes a peek into the future and reveals success and continuous achievements. Every now and then, we are faced with events/challenges that require thinking outside the box. A talent not utilized is a waste as well as every second, minute, hour or day lost can never be regained. Time is a melting ice; we must not give it up freely. Life is no bed of roses; most good things have their tough sides and the path to fulfilled life present puzzles that must be solved to bring about victory. A haphazard decider may plunge into a lifetime of misery as greatness can only be acquired through hard work, persistence and smartness. It comes to some people as luck and luck comes with short-lived success, only good decisions and well organized follow up actions can sustain greatness.

It was past midnight, I was on my bed gazing into the ceiling as sleep eludes me. Like two raging and roaring lions, the thoughts of what my potentials are and when they should be put use kept charging at me. Of all the numerous skills I possess, writing remains the most valuable because through it, great things can be achieved as the pen is believed to be mightier than the sword. Through writing, knowledge can be inculcated, stories can be told, history is preserved for generations to come, a cause can be fought and a broken heart can be mended. Decision is not cheap, not if livelihood is attached to it; and writing is not easy. To own commendable write ups you must read said J.K Rawlings (Author of the book Harry Porter), in her words she said “the most important thing is to read as much as you can, like I did. It will give you an understanding of what makes good writing and it will enlarge your vocabulary”.

Writing demands inspirations, our environment is flooded with the gifts of inspirational things. From God’s works to the goodness and the ills of man and animals. The height of heavens, the depth of oceans, the liveliness of youth, the stillness of the dead, the weakness of the old, pain, love, hate, joy, war and everything that may inspire us. I love writing and my choice is to write, write for its love and also write for its gains. Fear will be eroded by determination, delayed success will not make me quit as it will bow to passion, perfection will come as my experience grows.
